Round 2 Introduction

Welcome to the website for Round 2 of the Core Rehabilitation Outcome Set for Single Sided Deafness: The CROSSSD Study.

What is Round 2 of the CROSSSD study?

The CROSSSD online survey aims to identify and form agreement on what is most important to measure in research about treatments for Single Sided Deafness (SSD). These most important outcomes will then be included in a Core Outcome Set for SSD. This research is important because it will help to shape and improve future research on treatments for people with SSD.

In Round 1 of CROSSSD, healthcare users and professionals (clinicians, researchers and commercial representatives) scored a list of outcomes to tell us how important each outcome is to measure in research.

The purpose of Round 2 is to allow those individuals who took part in Round 1 to re-score the same outcomes from Round 1. They will also be asked to score additional outcomes that were added in response to feedback from those who completed Round 1.

What do I need to do to take part in Round 2?

To take part in Round 2, you need to have registered and completed Round 1 of the CROSSSD survey. You received an email with your registration details for Round 1. You can use the same details to log in to Round 2.

How do I complete the Round 2 survey?

For outcomes that were scored in Round 1, you will be shown graphs that summarise how each group of participants scored each outcome from 1 to 9, where a higher number means it is more important to measure. Your own score from Round 1 will be highlighted in yellow.

You should review the graphs shown on each page and reflect on your score based on the feedback from Round 1.

After reflecting on this feedback, please tell us how important each outcome is in deciding if an SSD treatment has worked by re-scoring each outcome. You have the option of chosing the same score as in Round 1 if you wish.

Please note: how difficult or easy it may be to measure each outcome domain should not influence your score.

An outcome domain will only be considered for inclusion in the Core Outcome Set if 70% of all participants select scores between 7-9 on the scale.
